Considering Migration to Türkiye: A Balanced Perspective Turkey
There’s a significant difference between expressing a positive view of a country and actively promoting migration to that country. Just because someone is contemplating moving to a place like Oman or Türkiye, it doesn't mean they should overlook the complexities involved. It's essential to remain objective and acknowledge the pros and cons of both the country they are leaving and the one they are moving to.
Regarding the promotion of migration to Türkiye, it’s important to clarify that Türkiye is not a suitable destination for everyone. Unfortunately, many people have moved to Türkiye with unrealistic expectations, often influenced by popular Turkish dramas like Ertuğrul. They may not fully understand the deep political complexities of the country or the systematic challenges it has faced since the fall of the Ottoman Empire.
Türkiye is a nation at the crossroads of global events, which impacts its economy, social fabric, and stability. The country has endured natural disasters like earthquakes, political unrest, military coups, and external pressures. Anyone considering moving to Türkiye must carefully consider these factors before making a decision.
A valid point raised by many is the deep love for Islam among the Turkish people, but at the same time, a lack of widespread religious understanding. This presents an opportunity for those who have the knowledge and willingness to engage in dawah (inviting others to Islam) and islah (reformation). However, many expats who readily engage in religious outreach in non-Muslim countries hesitate to do so in Türkiye, despite its rich Islamic history.
It’s important to understand that *dawah* and *islah* in Türkiye can be challenging, particularly for those unwilling to learn the Turkish language and immerse themselves in the culture. Türkiye requires more than just taking advantage of the religious or economic benefits it may offer. Those who move there must be willing to contribute to the betterment of their Muslim brothers and sisters, particularly in reviving and supporting their religious identity.
Ultimately, if someone is considering Türkiye purely for personal or familial gain, it may not be the right choice. However, if they come with a clear understanding of the challenges and a genuine desire to support and uplift the community—especially in religious matters—then Türkiye could be a rewarding destination.
For these reasons, and others, the promotion of migration to Türkiye is no longer encouraged without serious contemplation of these factors. Moving to Türkiye should be a well-thought-out decision, grounded in a mature understanding of both the benefits and the responsibilities involved.
